FSS set up onsite personalization bureau for a leading bank in four weeks
The customer is one of the oldest banks in India. Having established as a leading nationalized bank, the customer has a market capitalization of more than 1 billion USD. The bank has more than 2400 branches across India.
TPradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) program was launched by Department of Financial Services (DFS) on 22nd August 2014 with the sole objective of enabling inclusive growth . The initial plan was to open 7.5 crore accounts which was later revised to 10 crore accounts by 26th January, 2015. With this directive there was tremendous pressure on all banks to issue Rupay Debit Cards in approx 6 months. There were serious capacity constraints in terms of card plastic manufacturing as well as card personalization across the country.
FSS came out with an innovative solution to resolve this problem for the customer and recommended that the bank set up the card personalization bureau in the banks premise. Since the card issuance projections were huge the bank welcomed and agreed to FSS suggestion.
The onsite personalization bureau set up was completed in a record time span of just 4 weeks.
FSS worked with the bank officials to set up the personalization bureau infrastructure which included:
- Identification of a suitable premise with sufficient storage space for plastic and stationary.
- Import of card embossing machine
- Infrastructure deployment for air conditioners, UPS
- Staffing to ensure 24×7 operations
- Security including biometric access control systems and CCTV cameras for surveillance.
In addition, the FSS team also tested the card personalization machine rigorously in terms of load and card quality. The personalization machine was installed in just 3 days which enabled the bank to issue 6 Lakh cards per month.
